<p>Some may assume a heart rate monitor is a gimmick oriented product. To arrive at such a conclusion is the result of a lack of knowledge regarding what the device&#8217;s purpose truly is. A heart rate monitor is exactly as its name implies. Its purpose is to provide the person wearing the device with a clear understanding of how fast the heart is beating during an exercise program. This will allow the person exercising to maintain a heart rate that can promote fat loss.</p>
<p>There are several factors that play a role in just how much fat is burned by someone while they exercise. Common factors are the weight, age, current physical activities and gender. After taking all factors into consideration it is easy enough to come up with a target hear rate that will promote the burning of body fat.</p>
<p>For example, a person&#8217;s resting heart rate may be 65 beats per minute. When such an individual starts a light exercise program, the heart may rise to 110 beats per minute. That is fine as the additional 45 beats per minute will allow the body to burn carbs and some stored fat due to the energy expenditure. However, 110 beats per minute is no where near enough of an intensity level to melt away stubborn fat. Instead, it becomes necessary to raise one&#8217;s heart rate to 160 beats per minute.</p>
<p>You may wonder how it works when 165 beats per minute are hit and the reason is that at that rate carbohydrates and stored body fat are eliminated as a way to produce energy and continue the exercise regime at the same rate. A heart rate of 165 beats per minute is considered a fast jog where as 110 beats is a light jog. It is absolutely necessary to have a heart rate monitor when you are performing in a workout program because you need to check on your heart rate when exercising.</p>
<p>The heart rate monitor will show you, for example, that if your desired exercise number is 165 beats per minute and your monitor reads 145, you will have to increase your exercise more to continue the fat burning. Even if in the end you do not meet your goal for your exercising session it still is beneficial regardless of the heart rate monitors reading. To get the maximum benefit from the exercise program the information given by your heart rate monitor will help you achieve your goal.</p>

<p>Since it seems that we all are exercising more often, exercise gadgets are becoming extremely popular. Among those gadgets that have increased in popularity are pedometers. Pedometers are an inexpensive tool which main function is to track how far someone walks within a given period of time.</p>
<p>Pedometers are usually the size of a credit card or pager and dependent upon the specific type, can perform a variety of functions. In addition to tracking how far someone walks, they may also count steps, convert those steps into miles, and tell you how many calories have been burned. The more advanced systems will allow you to save your data for several days or weeks so you may track your improvement.</p>
<p>Despite its small size, the pedometer is a large motivator. Just knowing how far you walked on a particular day or the number of steps you have taken can give you that extra push to do more the next time. People who wear a pedometer often try to find ways to improve their results each day, even if it is just going a few more steps each day. This is done by taking the stairs instead of an elevator or walking one more time around the block, just to mention a couple of examples. No matter how you do it or what you do, it will all add up and increase the total for the day.</p>

<p>A pedometer is normally about the same size as a credit card or a pager. Depending upon the model you buy, you can also have pedometers that are capable of a lot of different functions. On top of just tracking the distance walked, pedometers can also count steps and then convert that number into miles and also tell you the number of calories burned. Some pedometers are even more advanced are can even store your data for up to several weeks and that makes it possible to track progress or improvements.</p>
<p>Despite its small size, the pedometer is a large motivator. Just knowing how far you walked on a particular day or the number of steps you have taken can give you that extra push to do more the next time.
