Pineapple Diet Overview
October 7, 2009by Monty Dayton· Leave a Comment
The pineapple diet, also sometimes referred to as the Metzger Pineapple Diet, is hard to nail down because there are many “false” online versions of this weight loss plan. Still, there’s no denying that there’s a lot of interest around this weight loss plan so read on to learn more.
Eating pineapple is obviously the cornerstone of this diet and eating plan. Pineapple is your snack, it’s the main part of every meal, and only tuna and ice water act as supplements. There are many different versions of the pineapple diet, but all of them are based around the same ideas.
Is the pineapple diet a fad diet? Definitely. This eating plan is a fad diet and should be undertaken carefully. With the majority of people, this diet will definitely work as far as weight loss.
Most versions of the pineapple diet add tuna. Tuna is the ideal type of meat because it is very low in fat, but absolutely loaded with protein – and all with very few calories compared to the nutritional impact. Tuna is a great balance to pineapple, and allows for a good mix of vitamins and protein. Add in the ice water to stay hydrated and keep the metabolism up and you have the basis of the pineapple diet.
First of all, pineapple is a fruit that is high in sugar. In theory this could cause some concerns with diabetics who need to watch their sugar levels. Pineapple is also acidic, which could make it hard for some people to keep with the high levels of pineapple.
A common second concern with the pineapple diet is lack of nutritional balance. While pineapple and tuna are both very healthy foods, you’re not going to get 100% of your daily vitamins from eating just that. A daily multi-vitamin is a very good idea.
Third, some of the claims made about this diet have not been confirmed through testing. While many fad diets will help dieters lose weight, that doesn’t mean that the weight loss is healthy or for the same reasons that the diet purports.
While it works great for some dieters, the pineapple diet is not a weight loss plan that everyone will be able to, or will want to, follow. That said, this is one of those rare fad diets that provides some solid nutrition and can actually help dieters lose weight.
Finding The Best Omega 3 Sources.
September 19, 2009by Peter Bertonach· Leave a Comment
It is now clearly established that Omega 3 polyunsaturated fats are good for our health. In numerous studies this has shown to be true. But where do you find good Omega 3 sources so that we can add extra Omega 3 fatty acids to our diet?
There are a number of Omega 3 fats including DHA, EPA and ALA. The first 2 of these are primarily found in marine based sources. Fish are very high in DHA and EPA and this is sourced from the algae that fish eat.
ALA is only found in plants.
The most important of these 3 polyunsaturated fats is DHA. This makes up a large of our brain and is important to our brain development
ALA is not as important to our bodies for one reason. It cannot be synthesised directly but to DHA by our bodies to be of use. The process converting the ALA to DHA is particularly inefficient and therefore taking plant-based Omega 3 sources rich in ALA is not as good for us as DHA sources and EPA sources such as fish oil.
For this reason the best dietary sources of Omega 3 fats is found in fish and fish based products. The American Heart Association recognises the benefits to our health of eating more fish however there is a conundrum. Fish is generally contaminated with toxins such as Mercury and this reason the FDA recommends against eating too much fish.
So it appears that we ought not eat fish daily despite the fact that fish is an excellent food source of Omega 3 fats. So if you want to get your health your healthy polyunsaturated fats daily the only safe way to do it is to take the best fish oil supplements that you can find. The best supplements are clean however it is also true to say that not all fish oil supplements are as good as others.
Of course you can also add more plant-based Omega 3 sources as well. For instance you can cook with canola oil or olive oil. And flax seed oil is also very high as a source of Omega 3 ALA.
Mind you if you’re vegetarian you may not be able to take fish oil supplements. But you can get vegetarian supplements which are excellent DHA sources. They are made algae that are rich in DHA.
So if you want to improve your health by increasing your food intake of Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids best Omega 3 source is to take daily fish oil supplements.

Tips To Finding The Highest Quality Fish Oil Supplements
September 12, 2009by Peter Albertonach· Leave a Comment
It really is time. Time to start taking daily fish oil supplements, the evidence for their health benefits is overwhelming. But how do you decide which are the highest quality fish oil supplements?
Firstly let me say, not all Omega 3 supplements are the same. There is a good reason to find high quality Omega 3 capsules. Here’s what you look for.
1. Cleanliness and purity.
Generally fish is contaminated and the FDA tells us not to eat a lot for that reason. Supplements can be contaminated too and some have in the past been withdrawn. So you need to determine if your fish oil supplements are clean.
Most marine oil is cleansed by a process of molecular distillation. This is effective, but there is one company that considers this insufficient and adds it’s own cleansing process in before molecular distillation, just to make sure. They also control the entire process of extracting the oil from the moment the fish is caught right through to making the capsules. Most companies buy in their oils from a wholesaler.
2. The freshness of the oil.
Fish oil can go off. It oxidizes and goes rancid, and that’s why you get that “fishy” taste, or even fishy burps, from capsules. It’s gone off. Some manufacturers even add nice scents to mask the fishy odor. You must choose high quality fish oil supplements that use only the freshest oils that haven’t gone rancid.
3. How much DHA you’re getting.
The most important Omega 3 fatty acid is DHA. Most Omega 3 capsules contain 18% EPA and 12% DHA, so for a 1000 mg capsule you’re getting 120 mg of DHA. The rest, apart from 180 mg of EPA, isn’t that important.
The highest quality Omega 3 supplements give you 28% DHA, so you’re getting 280 mg per 1000 mg capsule. That’s almost 2 1/2 times more than most.
4. The effectiveness of the Omega 3 fats.
There’s a number of different factors that affect how well the Omega 3 fats work. “Bioavailability” is one. It gets a little complicated and you can find out more on my website, but basically it means how well your body takes up and assimilates the good healthy fats.
Not all fish oil brands work the same, the quality fish oil supplements do work better. The major benefits of Omega 3 fatty acids are their anti inflammatory effects. And one brand of fish oil supplements has been shown to work over twice as well as an anti inflammatory.
And price comes into it when you’re looking to find the highest quality fish oil supplements and it isn’t easy to go a price value comparison.
That’s a very brief explanation of how to find the highest quality fish oil supplements. Remember, fish oil quality DOES matter.
I write much more extensively about this on my website and also do a price/value comparison there as well if you’re interested.

Many people choose to join a gym, or team up to take part in group exercise activities. These tend to work well as you will receive motivation to continue from your team mates as you go. Signing up to a gym can offer a regular discipline that will allow you to work out on a regular basis and to measure your progress.
If you want to start exercising to improve the shape of your body, then your diet will play a huge part in your success to the point where it will almost determine what you can tone and what you cant. In order to make your muscle visible through the outer layer of fat, you should reduce the fat in your diet while working the muscle in question. If you really want to have your body sculpted into the image you have in your head of what you really want to look like, then it would probably be worth considering researching and investing in a protein shake of some description.
