Do You Need Weight Loss Surgery
Is weight loss surgery for you? Maybe, if you’re forever on a diet, forever making an attempt to lose pounds. You gain weight, lose it, then gain it back again. Are you one of the ones who needs bariatric surgery?
Or will you be from the start?
Here are three questions to answer prior to deciding on if you will have one of the bariatric surgeries available.
Number One: Are You 100 or More Pounds Overweight?
While not written in stone, being 100 pounds overweight is usually the minimum for being considered for bariatric surgery. But, if you have got a health condition (diabetes for instance) that would be greatly improved by losing weight, the minimum pounds may be fewer.
Number Two: Have You Attempted Every Diet Imaginable?
Before being considered for surgery, you will need some type of proof that you’ve tried and failed at multiple weight loss plans.
It is best if you are able to really document it — examples would be Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, NutriSystem. Why? Because each would have proof of your attempts.
Just mentioning you’ve tried every diet in the world won’t do.
Number 3: Are You Motivated?
In other words, are you tired of being obese? Are you ready to do no matter what is required to shed the pounds, but wish to have help doing it?
Once you have received 1 of the weight loss surgeries, you will still have to follow a diet (yes, you heard right). And quite probably need to follow it for the rest of your life.
Are you willing to perform this, or will double-bacon-cheeseburgers-with-giant-fries forever be calling your name? (And will you be answering the call?) Not to say that you can’t have a small splurge occasionally, but it cannot be a consistent occurrence.
Do You Need Weight Loss Surgery?
If you are able to answer yes to the three questions above, your next step will be to decide which of the four main weight loss surgeries is suited for you. Each is slightly different and is suited for different kinds of people. No one surgical procedure is right for everyone. For example, lap band surgery may be great for one person, while another might need gastric bypass surgery to get the optimum results.
Bariatric surgery isn’t cheap. Plus it can change your life in more ways than you can imagine. Select wisely, and you will be on the road to a healthier life plus extra self-assurance.
