<p>The spine is a marvelous feat of natural engineering. Evolving over thousands of years, its double arched structure efficiently supports and connects our body&#8217;s muscles and bones. Even so, poor posture is quite common.</p>
<p>Perhaps the biggest reason for this is that so many people fail to realize just how simple and straightforward a good posture is, and that it can be acquired simply by practicing a few easy exercises. Basically, good posture allows the spine to do its job as effectively as possible so that the entire body can benefit from it. Essentially, one can master good posture by observing four basic principles and if done correctly, back pain will be a thing of the past. </p>
<p>Firstly, we need to ensure that the muscles in our body are able to withstand tension, in that they must be strong enough. Muscle strength is crucial in terms of us being able to carry out numerous tasks such as lifting heavy objects and even running. Even some activities which may not seem as if they are demanding also require a huge amount of effort on behalf of your muscles. For example, if you need to sit for any length of time, the muscles will have to work continuously so that the vertebrae can provide the support needed. </p>
<p>Flexibility represents a muscle&#8217;s length when fully stretched. Longer muscles are more flexible, and are usually more permissive in what your body can accomplish safely and painlessly. If muscles are short due to inflexibility, then other muscles must remain unnecessarily tense to provide support. Since strength is tension, these muscles are unnecessarily wasting effort on simple tasks, tiring easily, and causing mysterious aches and pains.</p>
<p>Relaxation is the ability to let go of tension from a muscle. In essence, strength is the ability to contract a muscle while flexibility is its ability to elongate. Relaxation represents a balance, a point at which the muscle is neither tense nor extended. Relaxation is key to endurance and good posture. By relaxing, our body automatically assumes a natural and efficient posture, one often blocked by inflexibility and unnecessary tension.</p>
<p>The fourth exercise, which may in fact be considered to be the most important, is the ability to be aware of what your body is doing. Awareness enables you to realize exactly when your muscles are using strength, when your muscles are being flexible, and also when you&#8217;re relaxing sufficiently. However, awareness is something which one needs to develop over a period of time, and in so doing, you&#8217;ll be able to master the art of keeping your spine in perfect alignment. The bottom line is; in order to maintain an ideal posture you need your muscles to remain flexible while at the same time keeping unnecessary tension to a minimum. This is essentially why body awareness can help you dramatically in terms of achieving adequate relaxation. </p>
<p>Providing you do some posture exercises, all the skills mentioned in this article can be improved with no more than ten minutes of your time each day. You will however have to hone them all successfully in order to see results, bearing in mind that they all go hand in hand. As such, if you end up neglecting one of them, you&#8217;ll either reach a point when no further progress is possible, or you&#8217;ll simply end up back at square one. </p>
<p>Doing posture exercises is undeniably one of the best approaches with regards to living a life free of back pain, and when you no longer experience back pain, the overall quality of your life also improves significantly. The bottom line is; providing you&#8217;re willing to put in a little bit of effort, it is 100% possible to improve your health and stamina, while at the same time eliminating aches and pains. If you&#8217;re sick and tired of having back pain then posture exercises could very well be the ideal solution for you.</p>

<p>So if along with losing weight and getting in shape you also desire the toned appearance then you&#8217;ll be surprised to discover that it is not as hard as you might have at first thought. If you want to burn the fat for your desired look you will be amazed at how a little device called a pedometer will help you. It does so by giving the information needed to get the desired results.</p>
<p>Some may assume a heart rate monitor is a gimmick oriented product. To arrive at such a conclusion is the result of a lack of knowledge regarding what the device&#8217;s purpose truly is. A heart rate monitor is exactly as its name implies. Its purpose is to provide the person wearing the device with a clear understanding of how fast the heart is beating during an exercise program. This will allow the person exercising to maintain a heart rate that can promote fat loss.</p>
<p>There are several factors that play a role in just how much fat is burned by someone while they exercise. Common factors are the weight, age, current physical activities and gender. After taking all factors into consideration it is easy enough to come up with a target hear rate that will promote the burning of body fat.</p>
<p>For example, a person&#8217;s resting heart rate may be 65 beats per minute. When such an individual starts a light exercise program, the heart may rise to 110 beats per minute. That is fine as the additional 45 beats per minute will allow the body to burn carbs and some stored fat due to the energy expenditure. However, 110 beats per minute is no where near enough of an intensity level to melt away stubborn fat. Instead, it becomes necessary to raise one&#8217;s heart rate to 160 beats per minute.</p>
<p>You may wonder how it works when 165 beats per minute are hit and the reason is that at that rate carbohydrates and stored body fat are eliminated as a way to produce energy and continue the exercise regime at the same rate. A heart rate of 165 beats per minute is considered a fast jog where as 110 beats is a light jog. It is absolutely necessary to have a heart rate monitor when you are performing in a workout program because you need to check on your heart rate when exercising.</p>
<p>The heart rate monitor will show you, for example, that if your desired exercise number is 165 beats per minute and your monitor reads 145, you will have to increase your exercise more to continue the fat burning. Even if in the end you do not meet your goal for your exercising session it still is beneficial regardless of the heart rate monitors reading. To get the maximum benefit from the exercise program the information given by your heart rate monitor will help you achieve your goal.</p>

<p>Since it seems that we all are exercising more often, exercise gadgets are becoming extremely popular. Among those gadgets that have increased in popularity are pedometers. Pedometers are an inexpensive tool which main function is to track how far someone walks within a given period of time.</p>
<p>Pedometers are usually the size of a credit card or pager and dependent upon the specific type, can perform a variety of functions. In addition to tracking how far someone walks, they may also count steps, convert those steps into miles, and tell you how many calories have been burned. The more advanced systems will allow you to save your data for several days or weeks so you may track your improvement.</p>
<p>Despite its small size, the pedometer is a large motivator. Just knowing how far you walked on a particular day or the number of steps you have taken can give you that extra push to do more the next time. People who wear a pedometer often try to find ways to improve their results each day, even if it is just going a few more steps each day. This is done by taking the stairs instead of an elevator or walking one more time around the block, just to mention a couple of examples. No matter how you do it or what you do, it will all add up and increase the total for the day.</p>
<p>Which pedometer you choose be sure it is one to suit your needs or what it is you require it to do. Do you want to convert steps to miles or how many steps you have taken. Perhaps it is how many calories you burnt taking all those steps or all of the above. Another thing to keep in mind is that being expensive does not necessarily mean better.</p>
<p>It is important also to realize once you have purchased your pedometer it may take a bit of getting used to. You may have to practice a little with it, so it may get used to you as well as you used to it. It needs to know how long your stride is, the pace that you walk at, what part of your body is best to wear it on. Once these quirks are ironed out, it will be able to track your stride very accurately.</p>
<p>Now that you have your new pedometer set and ready to go, it is time to set some goals for yourself. If it has been awhile since you have exercised, it is important that you consult your physician first and take things slowly. Start with either a certain number of steps per day or a certain distance per day. Once you can reach that goal with ease, you can keep lengthening it to challenge yourself.</p>
<p>There are a variety of everyday things you can do that normally you did not think of. The first is to take the stairs versus the elevator or when you park your car do so a little further away than you normally would. Taking your sneakers with you so lunch time you can maybe take a little walk around your work building</p>
<p>The best way you can exercise is to put on a comfortable pair of sneakers and clip your pedometer on your shoe or waist and you are on your way. It is an inexpensive way and your pedometer can be the motivator for you in meeting the goal you set. So get your sneakers and pedometer and get walking!</p>
