Consider the following reasons why drinking your calories will interfere with your long term weight loss success.

A Calorie is a Calorie: You may already know that part of losing weight is creating something called a “calorie deficit.” This essentially means that you have to take in fewer calories than your body can burn off in a given day. Cravings: What most people do not realize about drinks that contain a lot of calories is that those calories come from sugar and other artificial ingredients that actually create more thirst. Rather than quenching thirst and filling the need of the body to be hydrated, these drinks make you want more and more. That ultimately means more and more calories.

Ultimately, this means these drinks are full of calories but not much else. They are not satisfying any of the basic needs of your body. They do not have any nutrients that will nourish your body or give you a legitimate source of long term energy, and they do not hydrate your system or supply water to your system.

In the end, you are limiting your potential for weight loss success if you drink calories that could otherwise be saved for healthy, nourishing meals. If you are serious about taking off the excess weight and want to give your body everything it needs to get healthy, you have to give up the sugary, calorie-filled drinks and pick up more water. Think hydration and a full stomach, not momentary satisfaction on the tongue.
